After five years with a title company in Houston, I began my mortgage career in 1982. I loved real estate—working with realtors and builders, and arranging loans to help families purchase homes. This passion brought me to Phoenix in 1986 as a Branch Manager, where I fell in love with the Valley, and Arizona’s people and diverse lifestyles, from golf courses to northern cabins and lakes. I married in 2001, and the 2008 real estate crash led me to rethink retirement, especially with the 14-year age difference between my wife and me. I obtained an insurance license intending to offer Property and Casualty (P&C) coverage but it lead me to become a Financial Advisor, focusing on holistic planning, including managing assets, life insurance, disability and long-term care planning. It involves knowing your clients, their needs, as well as their short-term and long term concerns. The licensing and continuing education taught me how to observe and support a long range outlook for households. After nine years as a Financial Advisor, a tax professional referred me to help a 75-year-old woman who wanted to age in place, work less, and upgrade her home. A Reverse Mortgage eliminated her major monthly obligations, easing her cash flow. Inspired, I joined V.I.P. Mortgage to originate HECM loans. With over 30 years of lending and financial advisory experience, I feel uniquely qualified to educate homeowners, families, and professionals about the value of Reverse Mortgages. Addressing misinformation is key, as fears about losing homes or signing over titles remain common. It’s rewarding to see retirees and families find peace of mind through the flexibility and benefits of Reverse Mortgages. My mission is to raise awareness about these loans’ ability to provide tax-free distribution, reduce mortgage payments, and peace of mind and protection to seniors and retiree’s on a fixed income. When I’m not helping seniors and retirees, Jill and I love to travel, take hikes with all the trails locally, read, and spend time with friends and family.
